Redesigned Architects Alaska Logo
Founded in 1950 by Edwin B. Crittenden, Architects Alaska Inc (AAI) is a professional architectural corporation with offices in Anchorage and Wasilla Alaska. AAI hired me, local designer Cary King with Red Carrot Design to develop their new logo, identity system and website.
A major issue that we discovered while researching this project was the inconsistent use of the companies older AAI identity. Each time their logo was needed for internal or external communication, an employee would typeset their name within a document file. Sounds painful and inefficient, right? Well, our solution was to develop a graphic logo mark that could be used in various mediums. The transformation from a hand typed word mark to a vectorized combination mark provided AAI with a stronger and consistent visual identity to support their brand.
The stakeholders of AAI felt it was important to maintain some of the companies history in the new identity. So the same type style from the older AAI word mark was utilized in the new identity. The graphic mountain peaks and majestic gradient sky within the new AAI icon, symbolizes the beauty typically found in Alaska today.
